William Johnson is a retired instrumental music teacher of the Virgin Islands Public School System. He holds a Bachelors of Science Degree in Music Education from Hampton University and a Master of Music from University of Missouri-Columbia. He also retired with twenty seven years of service from the United States Armed Forces at the rank of Command Sergeant Major.
For the past twenty-five years he has embarked upon a new artistic expression that demonstrates his ability to transform his musical talent into a visible one, thanks to his special friend and mentor, Mr. Avelino Samuel. Mr. Johnson has been a member of the American Association of Woodturners for over twenty years.
Mr. Johnson has turned just about everything that can be turned on a lathe including bowls, lamps, bed post, vases, mortar and pestles, platters, rolling pins etc. He is now focusing on gallery shows with his current projects, pierced & artistic pieces of wood art.
